Introduction to Mahabharata Characters - Upa Pandavas

Upa Pandavas : They are five childrens born to Draupadi and Pandavas. Sometimes they are called as Pandava putras or Panchakumars. The Upa Pandavas are Prativindhya Shatanika Sutasoma Shrutasena Shrutakarma They are Prativindhya, Shatanika, Sutasoma, Shrutasena and Shrutakarma. [1] [2]  They fought the battle on the side of the Pandavas, but not much is said in the Mahabharata about the brothers except for fleeting mentions during the battle. Prativindhya He is the one who is inclined towards hunter or inclined toward vindhya mountain. He is born to Yudhishthira and Draupadi and is the eldest among the five. Shatanika:  He one who has hundred troops was born to Nakula and Draupadi. He was incharge of War plan like Vyuha planning under Dhrishtadyumna during the mahabhartha war. Introduction to Mahabharat characters – Bahlika

Bahlika He is Kuru Prince who wanted to capture and fight wars instead of ruling. He gives his throne to King Shantanu of Hastinapur, his younger brother. Later he settled down as the ruler of Bahlika Kingdom. He is the elder brother of King Shantanu and uncle of Bheeshma and ruler of Bahlika Kingdom. He was the oldest warrior who fought along with his son, Somadatta and grandson, Bhurishravas.

Introduction to Mahabharat Characters - Somadatta

Somadatta He is the son of Bahlika (elder brother of King Shantanu of Hastinapur)and father of Bhurishravas. He is the root cause of trouble between Vrishni clan and his clan. Devaki was the sister of Kamsa and mother of Krishna. Kamsa was very fond of his sister and arranged for swayamvaram where he invited neighboring princes to take participate. Somadatta was the prince of Bahlika Kingdom who had come to take part in the swayamvaram. Vasudeva was a good friend of Kamsa and he was very much in love with Devaki. Somadatta was also keen on marrying her. A skirmish broke out between Somadatta and Vasudeva. Vasudeva friend, Sini of Vrishni clan of Yadavas fought with Somadatta. Somadatta loses out to shini and this leads to a grudge held by both the clans.

Introduction of Mahabharata Characters - Bhurishravas

Bhurishravas He is the son of Somadatta and grandson of Bahlika who fought along the side of Kauravas. Bhurishravas was at logger heads with Satyaki because of family feud. He was one of the commanders of Akshauhini. Bhurishravas takes his revenge by killing all ten sons of Satyaki on the fifth day of the war. On the fourteenth day, Bhurishravas was protecting Jayadratha from Arjuna. Arjuna had vowed the day before to slain Jayadratha, King of Sindh before nightfall. Dronaacharya had made Shakatavyuha cart formation.  Bhurishravas force was conducting multiple side attack on Arjuna. Satyaki and Bheema came and rescued Arjuna. Bhurishravas fought with Satyaki his arch rival and wanted to finish him off. Satyaki was faltering as he was injured by Drona in the morning duel and lost conscious as they were fighting hand combat.
